One-to-one Support
We are opening for new referrals soon so watch this space! For more information contact Aminata.swaray@lewisham.gov.uk.
Our targeted youth work focuses especially on the current needs of young people. Whether it be helping them improve a particular area of their life such as wellbeing, education or relationships, or whether to build confidence in a life skill.
Through both the one-to-one mentoring programme and themed group workshops, we can track the progress journey of each young person and be confident that they are receiving the best guidance and support.
This service exists to support children and young people who may be struggling with issues such as health and well-being, communication, behaviour and boundaries, aspirations, school and education.
Our team is made up of qualified and experienced youth and community workers who will work with young people either one-to-one or in groups, for approximately 12 weeks. During this time young people will receive support from a professional youth worker in a needs-led and bespoke way. Support could include workshops, games, life skills, discussions and more. We also identify where young people may be in need of specialist support and refer them to the appropriate services.
To be eligible to access this service young people must:
- Live, study or work in Lewisham borough
- Be between the ages of 8 to 19, and up to 25 with special educational needs (priority will be given to those over the age of 13)
- Facing any issues relating to school, family or relationship problems, drug/alcohol concerns, behavioural needs, emotional well-being, keeping safe or anti-social behaviour.
We offer a support & mentoring service for young people across Lewisham.
‘I got along well with my mentor during the sessions, it was easy to speak my mind without any sort of judgement.’
Our support and mentoring service includes regular one-to-one sessions between a young person and a Youth First key worker. This provides the opportunity for a young person to build a relationship with a trusted adult in a less formal setting, such as a youth club and community activities.
